The Zikite duo of Busoye Matthew and Busoye Matthias have emerged as the joint overall best graduating students of the Faculty of Technology for this academic session.
The 11th speaker of UI'SRC, Busoye Matthias, and his brother, who is a former president of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, were both announced as the overall best graduating students of the Faculty of Technology during the 2023/2024 NSE graduate induction ceremony held at the Faculty of Technology large lecture theatre on Wednesday, 9th of April, 2025, having both finished with a cumulative grade point average of 3.94.
During the ceremony in which over two hundred and sixty students were inducted into the engineering profession, different speakers presented various speeches and pieces of advice to the inductees. The newly inducted engineers were enjoined to seek ways to improve the country as a whole rather than focusing on get-rich-quick schemes. Overall, they were encouraged to solve more problems in the society.
In an interview with Zik Press, the brothers acknowledged their mother as their inspiration, with Matthew dedicating the feat of being a joint winner with his twin to his mother, who strongly inspired dedication and hard work in him.
For Matthias, the challenges on the way to the feat are consistency and being motivated as well as balancing extracurricular and academic work. But then he revealed that he had a good structure in friends, colleagues and his brother who helped him in balancing things.
"That could be two things: just basically know your strength, because that's like your first weapon, and know your strength, because the one that does not know himself cannot know any other thing."
"So the second thing is, know your motivation. As I said, my mom was my true motivation, which was an edge over me, so once you lose your motivation, you lose, you lose, you lose your source of pushing forward. Like, you lose the drive to keep you on the journey, so that's it – know your motivation," Matthew revealed.
