The Fabiyi Damilare-led administration has handed over to a new set of executives led by Sotomi Daniel. The event, which was held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Junior Common Room (JCR), was attended by key stakeholders in the hall, including the outgoing chairman of the hall, Fabiyi Oluwadamilare Caleb; the newly inaugurated chairman, Sotomi Daniel; the hall warden; and the hall supervisor, Mr Owoseni.
The outgoing chairman, Fabiyi Oluwadamilare Caleb, in his speech, showed appreciation to the warden of the hall, whom he described as a "fatherly figure" who cared so much for the welfare of students and the success of the hall's running. He also thanked the hall supervisor, Mr Owoseni, for his assistance over the year in the administration. Fabiyi described the executives and the students as highly resilient and united in their pursuit and stated that this is the spirit of Zikism, a brotherhood philosophy of strength and service.
In his words, "The tradition of Zikites has always been one of excellence, greatness, and love. These are not mere words but a responsibility on each of our shoulders. We must carry this torch forward, ensuring that the name Zikite remains synonymous with leadership, strength, and unwavering progress. Let us keep pushing boundaries, lifting each other up, and proving that Zikites are not just made—we are born to lead."
In commemoration of their contributions, outgoing executive members were given certificates of appreciation for their exemplary service. This was followed by the formal dissolution of the administration.
Sotomi Daniel, the new chairman of the hall, thanked the outgoing chairman, fellow executives and the hall administration for their guidance and support. He stated that even though the new leadership was unopposed, that was no excuse for complacency, imploring the new executives to give their best. Sotomi also stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with past executives, encouraging them to provide advice where needed.
"For Zik Hall to perform optimally, we must remember our source: Zikism," he added.
Another highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of a new constitution that was draughted to the hall warden, a pivotal point in establishing the hall's governing structure.
Mr Owoseni, the hall supervisor, commended the outgoing executives' records, noting that their work had enabled significant progress. He requested the incoming executives to build on this record, demanding cooperation in order to enable effective administration and further progress.
The hall warden, during his address, appreciated the outgoing executives for committing themselves to student welfare. He greeted the new leadership with an appeal for action, saying, "To whom much is given, much is expected." He urged the newly inaugurated executives to adopt the principles of unity, responsibility, and initiative to serve. "Begin thinking on how to better life for the students and on how to get things done without sloppiness," he implored.
"Let there be a cord of unity among you [because ] once the loopholes get there, structure collapses.
