Tedder, Social Sciences Emerge Winners of JawWar Rise of Legends




Lord Tedder Hall and Faculty of The Social Sciences have on Wednesday, 26th of February, 2024 emerged as the champions of the latest edition of Jaw War.

The finale which was held at International Conference Centre ICC also featured the national university competition and a Rookies Oratory contest.

Social science defeated Law by 80.87% to 78.87% while Tedder defeated Idia with 81.06% to 79.5%.

In the national oratory competition, Obafemi Awolowo university was fourth runner up, Lead city university was third runner up, University of Ilorin was second runner up, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology was first runner-up while University of Ibadan emerged as overall winner.

For the individual awards, Ola-Stephen Favour from faculty of the Social Sciences emerged as the overall best speaker. The award for overall best speech was shared between Ola-Stephen Favour and Sakeenah Kareem, from faculty of arts. Yahya Dorcas also from faculty of the social sciences was awarded the most outstanding speaker. 


Overall Best Finalist and overall best male speaker awards went to Akande Omobobola James from Tedder/The Social Sciences. The overall best speaker for this year's JawWar finals was Akande Omobobola James, Yahya Dorcas was first runnerup and Adebayo Abdulrahman was second runner-up.

 In the rookies oratory contest, Naomi Akintunde from Faculty of Arts was second runner up, Bolarinwa Israel from Indy hall was first runner-up while Uwhokorie Faith from Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall emerged overall best rookie speaker.

The theme of this year's JawWar is ‘Africa’s Travails and Triumphs; Moving Forward and Learning From The Past’.
