The Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall Legislative Council 6th Assembly has passed the Zik Hall Price Regulation Committee Act from the first and second reading to the committee stage. This was done during the 6th plenary sitting if the council which held on Friday 10th of January 2025.
The Bill which was sponsored by the Hon. Olayinka Daniel was aimed at preventing extortion by vendors within the hall. While answering a question about the purpose of bill he explained that "the purpose of the Bill is to prevent extortion of Zikites by the vendors and retailers within the hall and to ensure regulation of price of common goods in the hall".
The Bill was read by the sponsor for the first reading and with the motion to proceed to the second reading by the Deputy Speaker, Hon Ojile Moses and Hon Achaka Ahmed, it was presented for the second reading.
Following debates and deliberation on the Bill, it has been further passed to the committee stage.
Meanwhile, the council also scrapped the Vice Hall chair, Okechukwu Victor's drum budget due to his failure to show up at the sitting.
