Ẹbinísérì's crooner, Kent Ẹdunjobi has stated that he has no formal background in music. He revealed this at a special lecture, organised by the Department of Music, University of Ibadan which was tagged "A Conversation with Kent Ẹdunjobi" on Tuesday, 14th of January 2025.
In the conversation about his musical background, Kent Ẹdunjobi revealed that he wasn't chanced to learn music formally but it has always been his passion. "The street thought me music. Everything I learnt in music while growing were from the street. I never had the opportunity to study music formally. In fact, my family wanted me to do medicine, later on I switched to study computer science at the University of Nigeria but music is what I've always wanted to do", he said.
He also talked about how he started engaging in music right from infant. "My parents are lovers of music, my mother was a regular member of our church choir, the same with my older siblings and my father always entertained us with the then collections of music. All these unconsciously ignited my interest in music.... that I started playing my first instrument, tambourine when I was about 4 or 5", he explained.
The special lecture was anchored by Dr S. A. Adejube of the Department of Music, and featured the open speech of the Head of the Department, Dr T. O. Owoaje and presence of a guest lecturer from Ajayi Crowther University.
