The management of the University of Ibadan has issued a statement in response to the fire incident which happened in Queen Elizabeth II Hall in the early hours of Thursday, 5th of December to, 2024.
The statement signed by the Registrar, G.O Saliu and was dated December 5, 2024. It reads thus:
"Management of the University of Ibadan hereby states that a fire incident was recorded at the Queen Elizabeth II Hall of the University in the early hours of Thursday, 05 December 2024."
"Management states that contrary to online reports, the fire incident was limited to the offices of the Hall Warden and that of the Secretary. Immediate assessment by Management and the Works and Maintenance Department pointed to technical/electrical faults."
"Management appreciates the concern of all well-meaning Nigerians. No life was lost as the fire was promptly put under control by the men of the University Fire Services," the statement concluded.
