How I Met A Mermaid!!

By: Asefon Abdulganeey Stephen

Beside my ribs, rest my seine

On my left hands, lay the hook,

Pattering along foggy pathways

As owls hoot, cricket chirps

While,forest retains highest reticency,

Hop into my wooden boat

As it sets to float,

Casting my nets to south

As my mouth drools for a big fish!

Abruptly, my net pulls me down,

Underneath my boat,I hear

The bubbling of water,

Ohhhh Big shark!

My heart hollers.

Surfacing from the rivers,

A white-skinned velvet hands

Slithering like a snake

A softened-body creature!

Indeed- this is not a shark

I whisper,

seeing her stunning visage,

My hands forgo the nest,

I drool not for fish again!

But, for a mermaid - whose

Skin unblemished like a rain!
