The Student Union, University of Ibadan, has on August 30, 2024, stated their rejection of the school’s governing council’s decision not to reduce school fees, fee payment, and course registration.
This rejection was contained in a special release which had seven resolution made by SU.

“At the protest held on August 29th between the hours of 10:20pm to 2:00pm,” the release read in part and stated that the SU rejects “decision of the governing council.”

The SU also called for “total boycott of classes till” their demands are met. Among others, the demands included a reversal of school fees; a shut down of school fees portal till demands are met; continuation of protests; use of social media by students with hashtags, #UIFEESMUSTFALL and #SAVEUITES; availability of union resources for mobilization.

The school's governing council had earlier decided that September 4, 2024, will be the deadline for school fee payment while admonishing students to take the Nelfund loan or look for alternate sources of funding.
