Students of the University of Ibadan have in a letter on Thursday, 25th of July, 2024, demanded a general assembly of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union.
A copy of the letter obtained by Zikpress and titled "A Call For Congress", was addressed to the President, University of Ibadan Students’ Union, with copies of the letter also sent to the Executive Council, University of Ibadan Students' Union, Students’ Representative Council, Union of Campus Journalists, Council of Hall Chairpersons, Council of Faculty Presidents, University of Ibadan.
“As a follow-up to the mass action that occured on Tuesday, 16th of July, 2024 and Wednesday, 17th of July, 2024, we, students of the University of Ibadan consider it imperative that a congress of students be called on Saturday, 27th of July, 2024,” the letter read in part.
“This, being to review the dividends of the last mass action and to chart way forward, especially with regards to fee hike, among other demands. We look forward to hearing from you, soonest,” the letter added.
