The Student Union, University of Ibadan, has on July 17, 2024, urged students to return to class after a protest, now suspended, that birthed the 7 - point agreement between the student representative body and school authorities.
This information was contained in memo released by the the SU. The memo acknowledged the participation of students in the protest. "The Student Union wishes to thank all students who came out in their numbers today for the demonstration and boycott of classes as announced by the union," the SU stated.
The SU, in the memo, stated that it wishes "to inform the general students populace that the protest is now suspended."
The union enjoined fellow students to return to classes. In the issued memo, it stated, "The student union enjoins fellow students to return back to class effective tomorrow 18th July 2024 and give time for the management to implement the resolutes.
Recall that earlier today, there was protest against hike in school fees, electricity supply, and other struggles which brought the SU and school authorities to the negotiation table. However, the protest has been suspended.
