Phantom FC defeated Young Boys FC 2-0 during the Zik hall league's opening fixture at the zik hall maracana on 20th july 2024.
Ebuka from Phantom FC had the first chance but skied his effort. In the 14th minute Phantom FC came close to opening the scoreline when Max, the Phantom FC defender slammed a ferocious shot wide also in the first half. The first half had numerous goal scoring opportunities, with the young boys team displaying their youthful energy and remaining compact at the back.
Mid way through the first half Lekan, the Young Boys skipper drove in a curling shot but Ebuka the Phantom goalkeeper was equal to the task. Young Boys kept drilling for the opener when a well timed pass was dinked over the top leaving Mastermind, Young Boys attacker through on goal, an effort which he sidenetted.
The deadlock was broken late in the first half when coach Davis substituted Mastermind for Korede, who had an immediate impact, finding the back of the net a few moments later. The Fadaca-coached young boys probed tirelessly for an equalizer in the second half but the phantom defense remained impenetrable .
Halfway into the second half, Phantom FC doubled their lead to make it 2-0, compounding the woes of the young boys. The Young Boys looked close to getting back into the match but their effort was denied by the Phantom FC goalkeeper, who tipped it over the cross bar.
