 By Beatitude

In response to the recent increase in school fees at the University of Ibadan, the Students' Union held a crucial meeting with student leaders from various halls, faculties, and departments on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, at the Kunle Adepeju Building.

The meeting focused on developing a unified strategy to address the financial burden placed on students by the fee hike.

Here are the key decisions reached:

Suspension of Fee Payment: Students are advised to hold off on paying their school fees until further notice. This temporary measure allows the Students' Union to explore all available options and advocate for a reduction in fees.

Committee Formation: The Students' Union will establish a committee comprised of student representatives to critically review the revised school fees. This committee will work on a strict timeline with achievable goals aimed at securing a reduction in fees.

Student Sensitization: Student leaders will play a vital role in ensuring all students are aware of the Students' Union's directives regarding fee payment and ongoing efforts to address the fee increase.

The Students' Union urges all students to remain patient and united as they fight for a more affordable education.

This decision comes amidst significant student concerns regarding the financial constraints imposed by the recent school fee hike. The Students' Union remains committed to representing the best interests of the student body and working towards a resolution that ensures quality education remains accessible to all.
