Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall football team wins the Infinix five
aside competition beating the postgraduate football team on penalties after an
enthralling 3-3 draw, at the Sub pitch on Saturday, February 10.
The game got off to a rough start for Zik when Amaechi, the man
behind their sticks made a mistake that allowed Zik to
concede a goal.
The resilient postgraduate team amped their attacking
prowess as they doubled their lead in an unexpected fashion for most fans, with Zik conceding, considering their offensive form and the thumping of their
opponents 6-2 in the penultimate game before the final. The tie, however reached its apex when Zik handed themself a lifeline late in the game
as they pulled a goal back which before scoring a successive equalizer, making the score-line 2-2.
The third goal was scored by the postgraduate team but Zik responded quickly, bringing the score to three goals apiece.
During the game, an important player for the postgraduate hall, 'Pogba', was stretchered off the field following an injury, while another Postgraduate hall player was sent off by the referee for dissent.
In the game, which was a thrilling encounter, Zik hall twice came from behind to send the game to penalties.
In a highly
contested penalty shootout, Zik won with the likes of Jamiu Kareem, Koulibali, Afolabi, Agbowo and others, with the Zik Hall goalkeeper also scoring his own piece of the shootout.
An amount N300,000 went to the winning team, while a sum N100,000 went to the runner-up.
