The Nigerian football team, Super Eagles, has on February 7, 2024, defeated the national team of South Africa, Bafana Bafana.
In the match at Staid de la Paix, Bouake, Cote D'Ivoire, the Nigerian national team defeated Bafana with 4 goals to 2 after a penalty, having in 120 minutes played a 1-1 draw.
Troost Ekong, in the 67th minute, had placed Nigeria ahead, having converted a foul against Victor Osimhen from the penalty, while Stanley Nwabli saved two penalty kicks to secure Nigeria's place in the finals in Cote D'Ivoire on Sunday. The match had an extra time with T. Mokoena's penalty which canceled the Super Eagles' lead in the 90th minute.
In the finals, Nigeria will battle Cote D'Ivoire - the host nation on Sunday.
