The Judicial Proceeding of the case which began on Monday, the 20th of
November, was adjourned to Friday, the 24th of November tentatively but was
later held on Saturday 25th of November 2023. At the last proceeding held on
the 20th of November, the court had adjourned the case due to the absence of
one of the defendants, Mr. Greatness Omomo, and thus the decision was made to
avoid mistaking innocence for guilt or vice versa.
The prayer for the further adjournment of the proceeding was made by the
Prosecutor, Mr. T. P. Bamidele in objection to the prayer of the counsel to the
second defendant, Mr. E. O. Otumala, to the court, who prayed the court to dismiss
the case on the ground that the defense counsel was not duly served the entire
documents of the case which makes the charge ineffective.
For Mr. Bamidele, he objected to the defense counsel's prayer to the court
to dismiss the case, while he prayed the court for an adjournment, based on the
premise that he was shortly notified of the court sitting which had caused
inadequate preparation for the case.
Consequently, after many arguments proposed by the two counsels, the case
was adjourned by the court 'solely for the sake of justice'. The case has now
been further adjourned for sitting on Saturday, 2nd of December, 2023, tentatively.
