Adebiyi Emerges Rookie Speaker

The Nnamdi Azikwe Hall Literary and Debating society, held her induction ceremony and oratory contest on Saturday, 14th October 2023 at the hall’s Junior Common Room, JCR.
The society, led by Bodunde Ebenezar, the President, is a platform for students to learn speak, write and critically. The inductees, comprising twelve memebers were inducted and presented membership certificates.
The event opened with a speech by Bodunde Ebenezar. The inductees, who underwent a week of bootcamp, were called to present their speeches. The speech topic was, “Freedom After Speech.” At the event was the guest speaker, Michael Barnabas, who gave a speech on public speaking and how youths can position themselves for opportunities in the field.
The event ended with the panel of judges, comprising of; Mary Adigun who heads Obafemi Awolowo Literary & Debating Society, Aweda Bolaji who heads the University of Ibadan Literary & Debating Society, and Nwaigwe Amarachi who heads Alexander Brown Hall Literary & Debating Society, pointing flaws in each speaker’s speech, and correcting them.
Out of the twelve speakers, six emerged as top, while three emerged as the best speakers with Emmanuel Adebiyi emerging as the Rookie speaker of the year.
