The Photography Unit of The Directorate of Public Communication, University of Ibadan on Monday, 2nd of October, organized a photowalk and photoshoot event in commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary.
This is in conjunction with Camera Interllect, a group of professional photographers and camera enthusiasts. The event was themed “The Power of Youth: From Despair to Hope”.
According to Mr. Adeniyi Adebayo, an official of the directorate of public communications, UI, the photoshoot was in celebration of Nigeria’s 63rd anniversary while using UI as a symbol, a national heritage to capture the beauty of the present.
He further stated that the photoshoot event was to help youths, students especially, to build their skills in order to thrive in the present situation of the country. He further said that all the photographs will be collected and the best 3 photographs will be awarded and displayed among pictures for UI 75th Anniversary exhibition.
The photographers and observers went around the school campus taking pictures of the school’s aesthetics and architecture.
Addressing the group after the photo walk, Mr Olakunle Oladipupo who represented the Director of Public communications, Mrs Adejoke Akinpele, encouraged the youthful enthusiasts and professional photographers alike to be resilient and to believe in the dignity of labour. He spoke on the need for youths to be given more chances to use their strength in the society and the need for synergy between youthfulness and experience. He concluded by asking the volunteers to add value to themselves and to never lose hope.
