Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall Block C residents are lamenting about the bad state of their bathrooms and toilets, with the bathrooms been constantly flooded.
Zikhall C blockites, particularly, the second floor residents are speaking out against the unhygienic still water facing them in their bathrooms, as nearly all bathrooms in the floor are not exempted from having the same issue of still water after usage.
The central issue pertains to the ten bathrooms on the second floor, in which nine out of it become contaminated and polluted with dirty water after first usage by a person, leaving other residents with options of either bathing in the unhealthy bathroom, inhaling foul smells from the water or to make use of another bathroom on another floor.the stagnant water takes a whole day to drain out which obviously affirms that the draining pipes are blocked.
Speaking to a ZHPO a student who preferred to referred to as Jay, a C blockite, expressed his frustration stating “
It’s been that way since I moved to Block C at the start of this semester,Initially, there was just one of the five bathrooms on my floor working normally so we’d queue up for the person currently using to be done, or find somewhere else”
He also added “Preparing for class have been hectic as hell, especially on days when most people have classes in the morning, 8am classes are recurrent for me through my schedule, sometimes I get to the next floor and there are people waiting to bath and I will be late for class as a result”
This issue of non moving water in bathrooms has disrupted the daily life of residents, making ordinary tasks like bathing and personal hygiene challenging.
The residents are looking forward to the response of the Hall management in repair of the water drain in the bathrooms.
The issue of stagnant water in Block C highlights one of the various challenges in the hall and the importance of essential amenities in student accomodations.
