A total of 65 hot plates were seized on Saturday 14th of October 2023, as the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall’s Warden, Dr. Okunlade Adeleke Oluseyi, led the Defense Team in a surprise raid on all rooms in the hall in an attempt to tackle the causes of frequent electricity issues in the hall.
Dr. Okunlade in an attempt to tackle the high rate of electrical malfunctions in the hall, instructed the Defense Team to embark on a stealth operation which requires a thorough raid of every room in the hall in search of hot plates being used.
The secret operation, which was carried out in the dead of the night, caught many of the students by surprise and led to the capture of a total of 65 Hot plates as at the time of the report. The seizure of the hot plates is in compliance with the rules of the hall, as the use of hot plates is outlawed in the hall.
The hall has been battling a lot of electrical issues in recent weeks with many of the blocks going without electricity for days and even weeks. This led the hall management to embark on measures to tackle the issues.
The raid is a regular occurrence in the hall which is used to sniff out illegal occupants, the use of illegal equipment such as gas cookers and as was the case last night; Hot plates which is used regularly in the hall.
