The Nnamdi Azikiwe hall legislative council on Saturday 9th September 2023, ractified and inaugurated Mr. Bamidele Taiwo Paul, Bam T, as the new Attorney General of the hall, at its second plenary for the session.
Mr. Bamidele Taiwo Paul, a 400 level student of the faculty of law, has been regular feature in the political activities within and outside the hall, his faculty and the school at large. As the erstwhile General Secretary of Student Union, and a former Member of the law student representative council, Bam T, as he is popularly known as, has a wealth of experience in relation to student politics and it is believed that this was one of the reasons he was nominated by the Zik hall Chairman.
The past few sessions has seen the position of the Attorney General been redundant due in little part to the past administrators, who have been left stranded with no judicial council; as it was the case last session. But also there have been little or no activity coming from this office in the past administrations. If we can recall a piece was written about the general lack of activity of the office of the Attorney General which led to an uproar on major group platforms in the hall.
It remains to be seen if that will be the case for the new session, as all eyes are on the office of the attorney general and the ratification of a judicial council that will help in the smooth running of the judicial process in the hall.
In other matters arising at the sitting, the House also ractified the inclusion of a new co-opted member of the house in the person of Hon. Akpan Joshua, who will be representing the D block constituency. Hon. Akpan in his screening, detailed how he has contributed to Nnamdi Azikiwe since his 100 level days, by been an active Zikite at events, Tank Washing Exercises, Zik Hall supporters club, and many more.
The sitting which took place at the Junior Common Room, JCR, was the second plenary of the semester and many more is expected to happen during the course of the session.
