Zik Hall's Block B struggles with faulty taps leads to growing concerns among residence.

The Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall Block B is currently facing an unforeseen water supply challenge as five out of the eleven taps equipped with a tank have become faulty, leaving only six functional, including two with detached necks. Residents are growing increasingly concerned and calling for immediate repairs.

The heart of the matter involves five taps in block B that have become inoperable, leaving residents with limited access to running water. Additionally, two of the functioning taps have detached necks further complicating the issue.

Speaking with a ZHPO correspondence, Sam, a B blockite, expressed his frustration, stating,“It is very difficult to get water, sometimes when I get there, I’ll have to queue since it’s just one tap that’s running well and sometimes you might be pressed, you’ll now start looking for water running helter skelter. If there’s queue,I do fetch water from A block and when I get there sometimes there’s still queue.”

he added that “ it’s just one solution we need. The Hall management should please fix it, and another is find a way to create a kind of awareness to students that they should be careful in the usage of the taps to avoid mishandling it or breaking the necks in order to prevent it from getting spoilt again.”

The sudden malfunction of taps has disrupted the daily lives of Block B’s residents, making tasks like cooking, washing, and personal hygiene challenging.

The residents are looking forward to the response of the Hall management in repairing the faulty taps and addressing the detached necks on the functional ones. While anticipating the commencement of repairs, residents are encouraged to use the six functioning taps and stay informed about updates.

The issue of faulty taps in block B highlights the importance of essential amenities in student accomodations.
