The 10th assembly in its legislative sitting at the Kunle Adepeju Building, today, 2nd of September, 2023, has approved the budget for the freshers’ welcome which totals an amount of 1,717, 170.
The event, under the constitutional duty of the Assistant General Secretary of the Union, has been stated to run for five days, starting from the 10th of September to the 15th of September.
The budget as corrected by the Emaraobazi-led UI’SRC financial committee is broken down as follows: N167,500 approved for the day 1 rally; N336,100 approved for the orientation and oratory contest for day 2; N27,000 for the day 3 food eating challenge; N213,000 for the day 4 Inter-hall freshers competition; N70,000 for the day 5 movie night and N368, 300 for the 6th day variety night, while N463,000 for general logistics.
However, according to the Union president, Samuel Samson Tobiloba, who was also present at the sitting, only about 25 percent of the budget will be disbursed from the Union’s account.
Moreover, incomes that will be generated towards the funding of the events from movie nights, sales of tickets, brands sponsorship et cetera, has been directed to be sent to the clerk of the house, according to the speaker, Rt. Hon. Omotunde Olamide.
