Asido Oratory contest: Bello LnD Eclipse Zik By Two-points Margin To Qualify For The Final Round.

At the first round of the Asido Campus Network oratory contest that took place this past Saturday at the social sciences large lecture theatre (LLT), the Nnamdi Azikwe Hall Literary and Debating Society fell to Bello L and D with a two point margin.

This annual event chose to feature an oratory contest among the university’s halls of residence for this year’s edition, with a particular focus on mental health-related issues. The topic of the contest between Zik and Bello was “Mental Health Literacy: The Past, The Present, and The Future.” Oyedijo Olanrewaju, the speaker representing Zik Hall, emphasized the importance of incorporating mental health literacy to enhance the well-being of both current and potential victims of mental health disorders.

The Bello hall speaker edged Zik by two points, by a scoreline of 73% to 71%.

Other contesting hall results are as follows: ABH, 83.67% vs 81.67% Mellanby, Kuti 61.17% vs 87% Awo, amidst others, with Adewunmi Obisesan of Awo Hall walking away with the day’s best speaker award.

The final rounds is set to hold on the 30th of September, 2023 at Trenchard Hall, UI.
