The Executive Council of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of Residence has indefinitely postponed her congress due to the inability to form a quorum. The congress which was slated to hold on Saturday 15th of April, 2023 couldn’t hold because of the very low turnout of Zikites which prompted the hall’s executives to postpone the congress.
While declaring the postponement, the Hall Chairman, Mr. Soladoye-Adewole Moriselade appreciated the few that turned out for the congress and also stated the importance of the Congress before it was postponed. “…As we all know, congress is the highest decision-making body in the hall where every Zikite can be able to express their views on any issue of concern in the hall. This is why congress was called in other to address some issues of general concern. But as we have seen it, this congress will not be able to hold because the constitution provides for at least 100 people to be in the congress before a quorum can be formed. I hereby postpone this congress to another time which will be communicated to all Zikites later”, he declared.
In his comments to shed more light on the matter, the speaker of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall Legislative Council, Mr. Igbaoreto Samuel, also explained that the congress was postponed due to the inability to form a constitutional quorum and also explains what the congress was intended for. “The congress was called by the Hall Chairman with the intention of presenting Zikites that are aspiring for different executive positions and other arms outside the hall (faculty and departmental levels) excluding the SU level to all Zikites to support them and also just to know the areas that Zikites wants the executives to look into”, he explained. He also assured all Zikites that the congress will later hold very soon.
