Among the many catchphrases used in describing Zikites is this popular one, “Once a Zikite, always a Zikite”. This is why anywhere around the world old and current members of the hall are often jolted with excitement by their memories and experiences in the hall. ZHPO met with Zikites who have recently graduated. They left indelible marks on Baluba’s gritty sands which will not be quickly forgotten. This piece brings to the fore their contributions, relives old memories and highlights what they would miss the most.
ADENIRAN ADEDAYO – DY (POLITICAL SCIENCE)

I will say I contributed my quota to the development of the hall, even before I became the social minister of the hall, All thanks to Olukole Paul (Paulo), he gave me the light in Zik hall, he appointed me as the JCR commissioner. After that I became the Social Minister of the great Baluba kingdom, an experience I will never forget in my life, under the umbrella of Otuoke Administration, the Impact and Tradition Team.
Most Memorable Moments
WOW, every single day in Zik was memorable for me, from the first day to the last day in Zik I love everything about the hall, But I will say my most memorable day was my 100 level days when we held the SU rally for Ojo Aderemi, chanting, “NO ID CARD NO EXAM”. We boys never ready for exam now, all we wanted is just some time off to cool the brain. Also, the Dorime party that I organized with some other finalists. that night was crazy!
What will be missed about Zik hall
I really have a lot to say. Is it about the Aro, or the Oneness Togetherness And Brotherhood mantra. I’d miss everything about Zik hall, no caps.

I was a member of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall Literary and Debating Society and held the post of President of the society in 2019. I was also a panel member of the 2018 Constitution Review Committee in Zik Hall.
Most Memorable Moments
First time I represented Zik Hall at Jawwar in 100 level. It was surreal. First, that was the first time I’d be on such a big stage to debate. Second, it simply was a beautiful sweaty night. Another memorable moment was the night before one of my law exams in 100 level. It was an aro night, and I danced danced danced so much I got exhausted. I nearly failed the paper the following day lmao
What will be missed about Zik hall
Zik is a great place for its camaraderie. There’s a sense of companionship among the people there. I believe this is what I’ll miss the most. I met a great deal of great guys in Zik. Baluba never fails for real.
ADENIJI-KESTER TOMIWA BOLUWATIFE (LAW)

Okay, so my major contributions are mostly in the aspect of sports. I was a member of the Sports committee under the Oxygen-led administration, the sports administration of Black Majeed before emerging as the Sports Minister myself. After my tenure as sports minister, I was privileged to have been appointed the chairman of the sports committee under the Sebastian-led administration with A Peter as the Sports Minister. I was also appointed as the Head Coach of the Baluba Lions and led Zik hall to victory in the last Interhall football competition.
Most Memorable Moments
My most memorable memories in the hall would be during my time as Sports Minister. I’m certain Zikites felt a connection with the competition and the sporting events we had. The roars at the Maracana, the JCR and the basement during the Health and fitness day were massive. Support was massive, Zikites pumped as we had the whole hall talking sports. It was really a nice feeling.
Another would be, winning the Interhall competition with those wonderful boys. Even though I had very close relationships with all of them, they kept it very professional when we were dealing in that competition. I told them they had to win that competition for themselves and most importantly for the hall and they did just that, making the entirety of the Hall proud. Winning the competition was a madness! I could never forget!
What will be missed about Zik Hall
I’d miss everything about the hall. Everything thing makes Zik hall standout. It’s however worthy of note that the togetherness we’ve always had is unmatched. Samson Law used to preach the spirit of Zikism alongside Otuoke and I must say, that brotherhood we’ve formed in zikism is eternal. I’d miss these particular things about Zik but then, I’d miss everything too!
OYEDEJI TEMITOPE VICTOR – LEARNING MATHS (MATHEMATICS, BGS – FACULTY OF SCIENCE)

I was part of the Academic committee in 2018/2019. I taught Maths 121 on most Saturdays and participated in the organization of Mock exams for ZIkites.
Most Memorable Moments
I always enjoyed watching the social events in Zik hall though I wasn’t an active participant, like the aro and the gyration. I won’t forget the euphoric moments when everyone will rush out of their rooms to see a poorly clad female. I also enjoyed the inter-floor competitions, which was always something to look forward to. Watching football matches together at JCR, and the banters that ensued are all memorable.
What will be missed about Zik hall
First, I’ll miss the life in Zik hall, the aro, the cafetria. I’ll also the miss the sights of fine girls passing through Zik hall even though I won’t man up to speak to any of them. I’ll also miss the weirdness, especially when guys would be making strange animal sounds. I’ll really miss the sounds and sights of Zik hall.
JAMIU OLAOLUWAJOBA – RASHFORD (ECONOMICS)

I served as Chief Whip in the Zik Hall Legislative Council where I served two tenures. I represented ZIk hall at the Student Union level in the SRC, and was the majority leader. In my final year, I served as the Chairman of the Elders Council. Also, in my 200 level, when I was floor rep, I noticed they stopped the practice of locking toilets. In my time we got padlocks and allocated the toilets to particular rooms. I also remember. I also intervened to stop the barbaric act of defecating in the bathrooms and shot-putting through the bathroom windows.
Most Memorable Moments
I remember in 100 level when I was elected as a floor rep. I was surprised because I felt I was not really popular. So, winning and even becoming seventh was very exciting. Another moment was when Zik hall won four of the SU posts. It seemed unbelievable at first because the fact that the four candidates from Zik hall could clinch the win felt impossible. But it happened. I also remember when Samson Law, Joseph and myself participated in an interhall quiz competition and our floor won. Our floor rep then was Fanol.
What will be missed about Zik hall
I’ll miss the gyration, the aro – but not the one when they’ll be abusing ladies or body-shaming them, I loved the creative ones that will even make the girl laugh. I’ll miss all the traders, Lagbaja, Iya Solo, Mama G and I’ll miss the general Zik hall lifestyle, especially in the night when we go to eat bread and beans, even when you don’t have any money you know that in the end you’ll still get to eat bread and beans at Iya elewa of Block C. I also enjoyed the fact that when you are bored you can run to Idia and go and do aro or go and disturb or do Idia 101.

I served as the finance secretary of the Health and awareness committee and Health Minister. l was also a member of the academic and sports committee. Finally, I had the privilege of serving as the Hall Chairman of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall.
Most Memorable Moments
I had a lot of memorable moments In Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall but the best has to be the day we won the SU election because we were all unsure, but having all our 4 endorsed candidates win was a boost to our believe in the Zik Hall Tradition of excellence. I was happy the candidates won but more grateful to God for helping us uphold the tradition that was passed on to us.
What will be missed about Zik hall
Right now, I miss the feeling of being at home as the Yoruba proverb says “ajo o da bi ile”. But growth is an essential part of life and the prayer is to always come back and continue my quota to the development of Zik Hall and Zikites at large.
HAMEED FARUQ AJIBOLA – FLOURISH (AGRIC-ECONOMICS)

I was the Social Minister of the hall in the 2017/2018 session. I also represented Zik hall in the SRC during the short-lived Ojo Aderemi administration. I was also passionate about the political excellence of Zik hall and stood by endorsed candidates. In all, I valued Zikites so much that I was always ready to give my time and resources in support, even to the point of sacrificing some positions.
Most Memorable Moments
I enjoyed the camaraderie, especially having people around you all the time. I cherish the moments with Zikites, especially the friendship. I remember going with my friend, Kenny to Iya Solo’s place in the evenings. I would also include our common pot as part of the memorable moments in Zik hall, especially when we had to prepare for the cooking and when we had to pack up afterwards. The political victories we won from Ojo Aderemi’s SU victory to the latest success of SU post-holders from Zik hall. Honestly, every day in Zik hall is memorable.
What will be Missed about the hall
I’ll particularly miss Kenny, Adeoye, Addo Original, Rashford, Bello one corner, Samson Law, Ho Chi Min, and all my guys. I’ll also miss the Hall Warden, Dr. Adebiyi, for his all-time fatherly support.
