ZIK HALL HOLDS RALLY/BONFIRE IN GRAND STYLE

The University of Ibadan Monday, the 14th of December, came alive as residents of the Nnamdi Azikwe Hall trooped out in their hundreds to hold the annual rally as a part of the hall week activities for the 2020/21 session. The rally, led by the horse-ridden Hall Chairman, Ejemeka Joshua a.k.a Sebastian, the Social Minister, Marizu Miracle, who headed the planning of the hall week, some members of the outgoing executive and legislative council, members of the incoming executive and legislative council including the Hall Chairman elect, Mr Farouk Moriselade Soladoye a.k.a Morriz, Honourable Uthman Adeniji, the Information and Propaganda Minister elect and other elected officers were present at the rally.

The Rally, an established tradition in the hall, also intended as an anti-cultism campaign within the university was a timely avenue to ease the pressure of the hectic session as Zikites heartily participated. At the start of the rally, Zikites had converged at the B Block basement to mobilize for the rally as some had their faces painted, don bizzare and grotesque attires, kicking in excitement to the affair.

The rally started at around 4:30pm and Zikites trooped out from the venerated B Block basement which had been traditionally decorated with banana stalks and leaves. The rally was led by the Hall Chairman riding on a black horse followed by a procession of vehicles and numerous Zikites. Zik hall elders also registered their presence as they were notably dressed in the traditional aso oke, adding colour to the event.

In each hall visited, the hall chairman dismounted the horse to address the residents, extolling the virtues and greatness of the Hall. The Halls of residence visited by the Zik boys were, Kuti, Queens, Mellanby, Awo, Idia, and Tedder.
By 7:30, after moving round the halls of residence in the University of Ibadan, Zikites returned to the hall where the bonfire was held.
