The ongoing Higher Institution Football League has reached the semi-final stage with UNN, AAUA, and UNIMAID securing spots.
University of Nigeria football team (UNN Lions) at the weekend knocked out high-flying UNIBEN Royals from playing in the semi-finals of the ongoing Higher Institution Football League (HiFL). The Lions edged out the Royals with a 2-1 aggregate win.
In the other game played at the University of Maiduguri Sports Complex, UNIMAID Desert Warriors, defeated 2018 champions UAM Tillers by 3-0 to qualify for the semi-finals on 3-1 goals aggregate.
In the game played at Akungba, AAUA Luminaries qualified for the next round after winning a penalty which they converted and defeating UNILAG Marines. The result of the quarterfinal game between FUTMinna and UNILORIN Warriors will complete the spots for the HiFL semi-finals.
This would be the first time that UNIMAID Desert Warriors, UNN Lions, and the AAUA Luminaries would qualify for the semi-finals of the HiFL.
