The Nigerian Tech space is a fast growing one. In fact, the fastest in Africa I can say.
This is due to collaborative efforts of individuals and organizations in making resources available to people who have demonstrated interest in learning tech.
One of such individual is Akintunde Sultan, backed by Enyata.
Quick brief, Enyata is a software development, consultancy and training company focused on equipping people and enabling businesses by providing human centered software solutions.
Sometimes last year, they launched project BuildUp, a program that aimed at supporting 50 Nigerians with 50 Macbooks and 6 months pluralsight subscription to help accelerate their journey into tech.
Akintunde Sultan (popularly known in the tech community as hackSultan) is a software developer passionate about seeing the Nigerian Tech ecosystem grow. He partnered with Enyata on project BuildUp.
Enough on story.
Now to the main gist, months after project buildup, it was found that person X,(using this to replace the name), who was a beneficiary of the Enyata award, had sold his Macbook to purchase an iPhone 12.
This news seemed to be shocking as it erupted a lot of emotions from the sponsor who did not hide how disappointed they were at X’s move.
Not only the sponsors now, a lot of big guns in the tech space also expressed their disappointment.
On the other had, there’s this point of view that shows what Enyata did was a giveaway. And the property doesn’t belong to them anymore, but to X. And he can do whatever he pleased with the Macbook in as much as there was no clause that says he can’t sell the laptop.
These are clearly two valid points. And I’m not here to drift to one side of the arguments.
